Hurry! Offer Ends Last Week

I just read an article about ensuring the timeliness of your marketing message and policing obsolete marketing to ensure it doesn’t linger. Offers that have expired and old holiday ads do more than just embarrass your company. This lack of attention to detail can permanently change the way people think of your company, brand or product. After all, if you don’t pay attention to your marketing, what other details do you gloss over?
This struck home to me because just this week I have received several emails from broadcast email systems that clearly were never intended to be sent out. One from a vendor told me that my credit card had been denied. After spending an hour talking with American Express and the vendor, turns out the email message was a mistake and hundreds of clients received it. The vendor was deluged with phone calls and, I am sure, lost business as a result.
Yesterday I got an email from my hair salon offering me a free service for the month of February. Oops! Not really! That email offer was intended to be sent out by some other salon in another state. The same company sent me another email for their “inagural” event. Ever hear of spell check?
While most of us overlook email mistakes, they can cause irreparable harm and even law suits. The point is to take the time to ensure your marketing (and the investment it represents) is correct in every way before sending it to your prospects. A little time up front can save huge headache later on!
